For a number of years this was the Official Club Web Site for the Lochgelly Albert Junior Football Club. This is no longer the case as it has been replaced by, superseded by and vastly outshone by  http://www.lochgellyalbertjfc.co.uk/ the new Web Site to get the latest news and match results for Lochgelly Albert JFC.

This site has been retained, probably for the short term, as it performs better in the search engine rankings.

Albert Going Home

As part of our 80th anniversary celebrations this year, we are planning a trip to the French town that gave the club its name, Albert.

The town was all but destroyed and endured terrible hardships during World War One. Situated to the west of the Somme front, many brave Fifers of the 51st Highland Division and many other units found a wee bit of comfort and good cheer behind the lines in Albert, in-between the terror of the trenches and the horrors of battle. 

Sadly many did not come home and lie in graves and memorials in and around Albert. We go to thank our French brothers for comradeship, to pay tribute to and remember the fallen.

Sportsman's Lunch

Don't know if a Sportsman's Dinner is planned this year, but if there is it will be well worth attending. I attended one some years ago and the after-dinner speakers were excellent and hilarious. They were all celebrities, in their own way, from the world of football.
